35 Weeks

I made it to 35 weeks!!! I had my 35 week appt. this morning and now I am 3 cm dilated!! Only 7 more to go until I can meet my son!! :) The dr. thinks that I will probably make it to 36 weeks this weekend, and maybe to my appt. next Tues., but she doesn't seem to think I'll get all the way to 37 weeks. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm still having a lot of contractions, but most of them don't feel much stronger than bad cramps.

Since I haven't posted a bump picture in awhile, here for your viewing pleasure is my bump at 34 weeks:

And we have furniture for both kids now!!! Just in time, Kay, Kim, Shawn, and Wesley came down and brought the most beautiful white crib and dresser for Abby's room!!! Thank you so much Walid & Niki (and a special thank you to Brayden!). The furniture looks great. Here are a few pictures:

I need to finish up our baby boy's room and get a few pictures of that as well. It is still a work in progress at this point.

While I was on bed rest, I was so lucky to have Kay here for the whole week, to help out with Abby, make us dinner every night, take care of me, and to do all the things around the house that I wasn't allowed to do. I don't know what we would've done without her! Thank you so much Kay. One day toward the end of the week when I had no maternity underwear left, I finally broke down and asked if she would do a couple loads of laundry. Abby decided that she wanted to "help" with the laundry, by putting every pair of my maternity "hats" over her head. I laughed so hard I thought I might go into labor right then and there. WARNING! If you are easily offended at the sight of huge, ugly, granny-style maternity underwear draped around the neck of a toddler, look no further!!!

There is actually a really funny video of her putting them on, and then dancing, but it was a little long. If you Reeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to see it, let me know, and I'll post it!!! :)
Switching gears once again......for Greg's 30th birthday, Abby and the baby got Greg a brick that will be installed at the new Cowboys football stadium, set to open later this year. They sent him a replica brick of the one that will be installed, and after it gets installed they will send us a map of its location at the stadium. Here are a few pictures:

Happy 30th Birthday Greg!!!!!!

Today my wonderful husband turns 30!!! I feel so lucky to be married to to such a wonderful, handsome man. Not only is he a great husband, but an incredible father. Watching him dance around and play with Abby makes my heart just swell with love. He works so hard all day to provide for his family, and then he comes home at night and takes care of me and Abby. We have shared so many amazing adventures together over the past 10 years that we have been together, and I can't wait to see what the next 30 years holds in store for us!

I love you so much, Greg! Happy 30th Birthday!!!!
This is Greg on his last night as a 29-year-old:

And here he is today...30 years old:

5 Pounds---UPDATED!!

Well it seems like I haven't posted in forever, even though it has only been a week. I guess it is because so much has happened!!

Thursday night the uncomfortable, irregular contractions that I've been having on and off since 19 weeks turned into painful, consistent contractions. After timing them for about an hour, we called the dr. who told us to go ahead and go to Labor and Delivery to get checked out. When we got there and got hooked up on all the monitors, I was contracting in a "perfect pattern" every 5 minutes. Great if I were 39 weeks, not so great at 33 weeks. In fact, the Dr. said that out of the 7 or so women in L&D at that time, I had the best labor pattern! So I was given 3 shots of terbutaline, and a mega oral dose, which slowed the contractions down enough that they were comfortable letting me go home on strict bedrest, and with instructions to take the pills every 3 hours.

Luckily, Kim, Wesley, Shawn, and Kay came in town this weekend to celebrate Greg's 30th birthday, and Kay has been able to stay this whole week. She has been just wonderful! I don't know what we would have done without her! :) I had a follow up appt. with my Dr. on Monday, who loosened my restrictions to "modified bedrest" so now I can sit up, and walk around a little bit more, and even drive!

We had an ultrasound this morning, to check on our little man's size. As usual, it is absolutely amazing seeing that little guy moving around in there. He just takes my breath away! On the way to the appointment, Greg and I made guesses about the baby's size. I guessed that he would be 5 lbs., 4 oz. and Greg guessed 4 lbs., 8 oz. I have really been hoping that he is over 5 lbs. at this point to give him the best shot at avoiding any time in the nicu in case of early delivery. We are still awaiting the results from the dr.....stay tuned!!!

************UPDATE******************

He weighs approx. 5.5 lbs.!!!!! I am so excited and relieved that he is so big and healthy in there. That is just one more hurdle that we needed to pass to keep him out of the nicu. We got some really cute shots of his face, feet, and boy parts!!!

33 WEEKS!!!

I had my 33 week appointment this morning, and WOW are things moving along. I am now 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I am supposed to continue to take it easy until this weekend when I hit 34 weeks, and then all restrictions are lifted. Although the Dr. would really like to see me make it to 36 weeks (as I would too!), she would not stop labor after 34 weeks. So, my goal is to make it to this weekend still pregnant. After that, my goal is to make it to 36 weeks. I am supposed to schedule an ultrasound for next week to see just how big our little guy is, since he is still consistently measuring a week and a half ahead! And my next ob appointment is in 2 weeks. I am really hoping to make it to that appointment.

In other news, my baby girl is turning into a big girl right before my eyes!! I pulled her hair back in a ponytail over the weekend for the first time, and it looked so cute!! It brought tears to my eyes to see her looking more and more like a little lady, and less and less like a baby. See for yourself! I'll go get the tissues! :)

Dora & Diego

I keep forgetting to mention that we have discovered Abby's 1st 2 freckles. They are the cutest freckles ever! I actually discovered the first one several weeks ago when I was getting her out of the bath. It is on her back on the left side just under her arm. I thought it was a piece of dirt or something and I kept trying to rub it off. And then I realized that it is the cutest little baby freckle! So we named it Dora, in honor of one of Abby's favorite characters. And then when we discovered Diego a couple weeks ago, the name seemed all too fitting. I think we will have to stop naming them at this point though, as it may get a little hard to keep up with if she looks anything like her Daddy!

I wish I had some pictures to post of Dora and Diego, but I didn't plan ahead, and she is napping now. Maybe I'll try to get some later and add them! :)

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope everyone had a fantastic New Year! Ours was great! We went over to our friend Nikki's house for dinner, and then hung out outside around a fire-pit and watched fireworks (in our neighborhoods it is legal to shoot fireworks--so it was a 4 hour fireworks show!). Abby woke up just before midnight, so Greg and I counted down with her, gave her big kisses, and then headed home! It was a lot of fun.

And Greg was very productive with his long weekend. He cleaned out the garage, took down all of the Christmas decorations, and painted 2 rooms!! We picked out paint colors on Friday for Abby and Baby Boy's rooms. On Saturday he painted Baby Boy's room, and yesterday he painted Abby's room, hung her light and pictures, and moved a few pieces of furniture into the other room. There are still a few things left to be done in each room, but I am so happy to see my pink and blue bedrooms side-by-side. It makes me smile!! So, here are a few pictures:

Abby has been inspecting all of the baby equipment in preparation for her brother's arrival. Here are some funny pictures of that...
